Who loves snacks? We absolutely LOVE having snacks in place of meals in our house.
While everyone else is making huge meals for holidays and celebrations – we are making appetizers and snack mixes like this one for us all to graze on throughout the day.
Don’t get me wrong. We love a good meal. But when it comes to celebratory days – we like to spend time with family, not making food and cleaning up in the kitchen.
So quick and easy snacks is our jam and this one is perfect. It is no wonder it has been a classic for decades.
What I really love about this one is that I can make it in the oven, slow cooker, or air fryer. So if one or two of those appliances are busy making other snacks – I have options and it still comes out fantastic.
While I still prefer the conventional method in the oven because it is the most “hands-off”, each method is still quick and easy.
Place any unused party mix in an airtight container and keep at room temperature for up to 4 days.
This recipe makes enough to serve 4-6 people, depending on the portion sizes.
We actually have several slow cookers that we have acquired over the years from doing this job. I have a smaller one that is great for half recipes.
But the one I use the most is this standard, no-frills slow cooker that is perfect for this particular recipe.
This is really a personal preference. If you are happy with just a little salt added for extra flavor, then use salted butter.
I usually use whatever I have on hand, I really don’t care about what butter I have. But I typically keep salted butter on hand.
We actually have 3 air fryers. I have a smaller one from Phillips that we started with. I have since given that to my son since he’s only cooking for 1.
But the more I used the air fryer I realized I really wanted a digital screen. It wasn’t any more expensive, in fact- our XL air fryer from GoWISE was less expensive than the Phillips and I love its ease & extra functions.
Plus it comes with a lot of the extra accessories I like to use when cooking with my fryer.
But I when I started working on my second air fryer book, I wanted to change things up. I picked up this LARGE air fryer that has been wonderful. It has Touch Screen Presets plus it is XL Family Size, which is great!
You bet! If you prefer the generic brand, or maybe you want to make this with oyster crackers, bagel thins, coconut chips or bread twists – it will all work and be just as delicious!
Of course! If you need to leave out the nuts – you can use Goldfish crackers, Cheez-its, or any other types of snack crackers you prefer.

Each holiday season I love to share a new cocktail recipe here. I like to keep it simple but my favorites are often twisted from classic recipes that everyone loves.
This year I thought that adding a “fancy” twist on a classic margarita would be just perfect for our celebrations. Nothing difficult and yet oh so delicious.
Now, a classic margarita usually consists of tequila, orange liquor and lime juice. So this made it really simple, because we are then just topping that off with some champagne.
There’s something about the New Year or other “special” celebrations that seem to call for something bubbly. Not sure what it is – but that fizz is a must!
Personally, I just love the colors! That golden hue paired with the pop of green from the lime is perfect for a chilly night in to celebrate.
It is certainly far too cold here in North Idaho to do any celebrating outside. I’m what we call a “low-key celebrator” anyway – preferring to stay in with those I love most and keep it chill.
But we still need something to toast with and this sparkling champagne margarita is the PERFECT way to do that.
Triple Sec, often called curaçao is basically orange liquor. It is the basis of a perfect margarita. So I definitely encourage adding it. You CAN use orange extract if you can’t find triple sec for this recipe. You can even use fresh orange juice if you wish.
Any type of champagne will work. You can even use sparkling wine if that is easier for you to find. I prefer a dryer Brut champagne to balance the sweet and sour of the triple sec and lime juice.
I recommend using an inexpensive Prosecco, like La Marca, in this recipe. Try to avoid any bubbly that would be too sweet (Dulce) or too dry (Extra Brut).

Combine granulated sugar, kosher salt, and lime zest. Before making your drink, dip the rim of the glass in water or lime juice followed by margarita mix.

For most of us, pizza night is quite the popular advent in our households. However, convenience often requires that we order it form the local pizzeria rather than making it at home.
These Pizza Dippers put a spin on this classic dinnertime staple while also boasting a simple recipe that makes it easy to prepare at home. It is a good thing too because it is likely that you will need to make more once your family gives them a try!
The ease of this recipe comes from it’s “dump-and-go” approach to a normally labor-intensive dish. Simply taking ready-made pizza dough, and some of your favorite ingredients makes the prep time for this dish less than what it takes to wait for the oven to preheat.
This recipe is also a good way to add versatility to the menu, by accommodating your favorite ingredients like pineapple or mushrooms too, rather than just pepperonis. You can also prepare multiple flavors at once by only putting certain flavors on each half of the dough, like as you would for a regular pizza.
The spin on this dish is the fact that they can be dipped into your favorite sauce. Typically, people like the traditional flavor of the marinara, but I really enjoy using a little ranch too!

When the cold weather rolls around we are always looking for fun and creative things to do indoors. Since I am almost always already in the kitchen, the kids often join in and help.

Honestly, I don’t know what I would do without that service, because on the day we made these cookies, it was snowing hard. I was sure happy I didn’t have to head out in the weather to pick up the few things I needed.
I was inspired to make these cookies while browsing the EDY’S®/DREYER’S website to see what holiday flavors they would be offering this season.

Do you remember when you would come home as a kid to the smell of fresh cookies your mother spent the afternoon making? This is one of my favorite memories from my childhood and something I hope to recreate for my family too.
These M&M Slice and Bake Cookies are a perfect way to recreate that family tradition right in your own kitchen. It is a good thing that these are easy to make because you may find that you need to make a second batch!
One of the keys to most cookie recipes is the chill time. This procedure is typically used to firm-up the dough so that they do not become large, thin, flat disks after baking in the oven.
Chilling the dough means that once the cookies begin the baking process in a more dense, firm state. As the oven bakes the cookies, heating the butter and oils inside, the cookies will have a chance to conglomerate (becoming one unit) before they become too runny and begin to spread.
Chilling your cookie dough is truly a crucial step but it does add work in the long run due to the need to re-roll it before using a cookie cutter or for making it into balls. This recipe is a great time saver because you are able to chill your dough as a log, then just cut into discs for baking.

This Slow Cooker Wassail Recipe is an easy way to celebrate Christmas with your guests. This delicious no-fuss, alcoholic beverage, made in the Crockpot will surely be one of the best at your holiday gathering.
Traditions are especially important during the holiday season. Many of you may have traditions that have been passed down through the generations.
Most of these traditions are associated with our holiday experience as children. However, this Slow Cooker Wassail is a modern take on a centuries-old tradition specifically for all the adults in the room.
Wassail is a traditional holiday alcoholic beverage with roots in England. This drink combines a variety of fruit flavors like apples, cranberries, and oranges with the spices more commonly found around Christmas time like cinnamon, allspice, and cloves.
It is also not uncommon to find wine, cider, and beer added to the drink as alternatives to fruit juices (removing the bourbon or rum to avoid mixing the types of alcohols). In both cases, it is served hot as a great companion to a holiday gathering in the midst of a Christmas snowstorm.
Utilizing the slow cooker to prepare this delicious beverage makes it easy to prepare enough for the whole group to enjoy! This is another example of an easy “dump and go” recipe that will allow you to spend less time making food and refreshments and more time enjoying the company during the holidays.

The brown sugar is more to add sweetness to the drink. Some find that the apple, orange, and cranberry juices do the job well enough to not require the added sweeteners.
Since I make my own brown sugar, I use light brown sugar for almost all of my recipes. But light or dark brown sugar will work in this recipe.

My friends, I’m so excited for the season. I love making treats and I really love giving them as gifts. I keep a running list of recipes I really want to make as I think of them and have them categorized by season.
These Chocolate Pretzel Brownie Cookies have been on that list for way too long, so I’m thrilled that I finally got the chance to make them.

I made my weekly Walmart delivery order. While I was adding the Ghirardelli Bittersweet 60% Cacao Baking Chips to my cart I was excited to also find Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark Squares and Ghirardelli Chocolate Caramel Squares.
Those are a favorite not only for everyone in our house but they make such a great addition to gift bundles for friends and neighbors. I made sure to pick up enough for all my gift-giving this year.
I always like to include a mix of both pre-packaged and homemade in our gifts and bundling the bags of chocolates from Ghirardelli along with treats made with Ghirardelli was just perfect.
Have you ever had a brownie cookie before? Ever since the first time I tried a brownie cookie, I fell in love and they quickly became the one cookie I would choose over any other.
Brownie cookies are like getting those coveted edge pieces of the brownie but in the WHOLE COOKIE. Super chewy and oh so heavenly.
But I wanted to kick these cookies up a notch. Those Ghirardelli Bittersweet 60% Cacao Baking Chips along with salty pretzels really took these cookies over the top.
Growing up, my mom was the BAKING QUEEN. She could make THE MOST incredible treats.
One thing she always said, never ever skimp on the chocolate. The chocolate is your star and you want that to be premium, which is why I always use Ghirardelli.
Once the cookies have cooled, place them in an airtight container, and store at room temperature for up to 4 days.
I’m not sure just yet. I have been meaning to give this a try but haven’t had a chance. If you do try this, I would recommend using a 1:1 flour like this one as I don’t believe it would require additional ingredients that are typically called for when trying to make baked recipes in a gluten-free version. Please come back & tell me how it turned out.
The official way is to spoon the flour into the measuring cup & level off. This makes sure the flour isn’t packed tightly into your measuring cup, adding more than you need, as that will make your recipe too dry.
However – if you fluff your flour with a spoon, then gently scoop the flour into the measuring cup, taking care to not pack the flour – that should work for this recipe.
If you are making these cookies to portion out into gift baskets, you can definitely double this recipe. Maybe keep a dozen at home to enjoy with family.
I think you could possibly get away with using a hand mixer if you have firm beaters. But I must warn you, this dough is very thick and it will be quite an arm workout.
I don’t recommend using a whisk or even the whisk attachment on a stand mixer for this dough as a whisk isn’t strong enough for this dough.
I believe you could freeze these cookies if they were packaged tightly in an airtight container. However, as with some baked goods, freezing tends to make them a bit dry once thawed. These are BEST when enjoyed fresh.
Making brownie cookies without the brownie mix is more complex and calls for a completely different post.
I do have a double chocolate cookie recipe here that you can make from scratch and then add the Ghirardelli chocolate chips and pretzels to the dough before baking.
For these cookies, I highly recommend the Ghirardelli Bittersweet 60% Cacao Baking Chips. But you can also use Ghirardelli milk chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate or white chocolate.
I also love adding chopped nuts, a teaspoon of espresso powder or peppermint extract to these cookies in place of the crushed pretzels.

We will be enjoying our own batch of these cookies along with the Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark and Caramel Squares while staying home.

When it comes to holiday cookies, there are plenty out there to choose from. But this year I have really been feeling the peppermint craze and it shows with these Peppermint Swirl Cookies.
I love how easily they come together with the help of cake mix. This also ensures that they have a delicious flavor and are super soft and chewy too.
I really love how fun these cookies are. We made them in both traditional rounds that turned into a marbled look when using the two colors of dough.
But then we took those colors and twisted them together to make adorable candy canes too.
Once we finished baking these up we decided that a little extra chocolate drizzle would really give these a holiday feel. You can add some too or leave them plain.
Either way, these cookies are filled with great peppermint flavor, and definitely didn’t last long around here.

Homemade Peppermint Hot Chocolate made in the Instant Pot is a quick and easy treat on a chilly winter day. Added notes for a spiked version too!
What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the classic flavors of Christmas? If you are like me, you are likely reminded of the chocolate and peppermint flavors that came to be hallmarks of the season.
In my opinion, there is no better way to enjoy the flavors of Christmas than when cozied up to a warm cup of Peppermint Hot Chocolate. The only way that it can get even better, is to make it the quick and easy way using your Instant Pot!
As the weather gets colder, hot chocolate becomes the comfort food of beverages. I enjoy serving it to family and friends as we enjoy each other’s company around the holidays.
However, it can be quite time-consuming to make enough hot chocolate for everyone. Some simply make it on the stovetop in a stockpot, others use popular slow cooker recipes to gain the added convenience of keeping the drink warm during a holiday gathering.
To solve this problem, using the Instant Pot to make hot chocolate saves a lot of time when preparing for visitors. Additionally, it is an excellent way to also keep it warm throughout the evening and makes whipping-up an extra batch a breeze!
For an adults-only spin on this seasonal recipe, you may opt to add peppermint schnapps or my candy cane vodka instead of peppermint extract! Either way, this recipe is a great way to enjoy this Christmastime classic.
Often, an Instant Pot recipe would call for you to release all the pressure at the end of the timed pressure cycle. However, the cooking process stops when the pressure is released.
For recipes that call for a natural pressure release, you would refrain from releasing the pressure from the unit for a set amount of time. This allows for a little extra cooking time as the pressure inside naturally goes down.
At the end of the natural pressure release cycle, you would then use the valve to release the remaining pressure and stop the cooking process.
Yes. You may substitute the peppermint extract for any of your favorite flavors. Another good alternative to peppermint is a cinnamon extract.
Though they do cook inside together, the mixture would not mix very well inside the pot without a little help. Therefore, you have to combine all of your ingredients to get the smoothness of the hot chocolate when done.
Yes, you can. Just replace the peppermint extract with ½ cup of peppermint schnapps or candy cane vodka to the whole pot of cocoa. Or you can add a 1/2 ounce per mug when serving.
It is not recommended because the marshmallows will likely dissolve over time in the main pot of hot chocolate.
So Dutch-processed cocoa powder is also referred to as alkalized cocoa. This powder starts with cocoa beans that have been washed in an alkaline solution of potassium carbonate, also used in the production of soap and glass.
By doing this, it neutralizes the acidity of the beans, making the beans neutral. This is important because when they are neutral, they do not react with baking soda. Instead, it is often paired with baking powder.
So – long story short – using regular cocoa powder vs Dutch-process cocoa powder will yield a completely different rise and texture to any recipe you are making.
So I highly recommend paying close attention to the type of cocoa powder called for in each recipe and sticking to it for that reason.

I wanted to make sure that I covered all the bases. Tags for food gifts are almost always something I need -because we give a lot of homemade gifts from the kitchen.
But I often find myself needing tags that are minimal, ones for the extra kids that end up on the list and so many more. It seems that I can never find the perfect gift tag. So this year I did what I always do in those situations – I made my own.
But I felt that you probably were running into the same problem. So I made them all FREE for you to download here.

I find that when printing the tags they do best on cardstock. You can do either white or kraft paper brown. You can also do colors if you like.
Personally, because these are for gifts and I want them to look as nice as possible, I print these on the normal or best setting. Usually, I have my printer set to draft by default to make the ink last as long as possible. But for these, I always make sure to use a nicer quality.

2021 Floral Calendar is a free printable to help you stay organized all year while a little beauty to your workspace.
It is time once again to get those printable calendars ready. I like to have a bunch of options to choose from – so this year I created a couple of different ones.
Something about the new year makes me excited for options and having these calendars available makes me motivated to jump into new things.

I’m all about the paper calendars. I like to have my reminders everywhere – even if I have a few different digital options too.
My brain just naturally remembers things better if I see them written down, or if I write things down – rather than in text.
I also created a coloring page calendar this year because so many of you really loved the ones I offered in years past.
But for those of you that just want something pretty without the added creative element – this is the perfect option.
Simple and elegant and just enough color to brighten your days.
Let’s hope that 2021 kicks off on a good note and it is a great year. I know I have high hopes for what is to come.

2021 Mandala Coloring Page Calendar is a free printable to help you stay organized all year while fueling creativity through adult coloring.
My friends, I’m all about the calendars. I think I ordered my planner way back in October so I could start getting 2021 organized.
So it should come as no surprise that I also make and keep printable calendars just about everywhere. Don’t get me wrong, I still have my digital ones on my phone and online. But there is just something about paper.

I guess you could call me old school. If I don’t write it down, it isn’t happening. No matter what the digital calendar says.
That being said, I always keep everything in pencil – because life is so fluid these days. There isn’t much that gets set in stone – or in this case, ink.
I opted for a coloring page calendar this year because so many of you really loved the ones I offered in years past.
Last year I did a regular printable calendar and I think I didn’t even create a calendar for 2019 because there was so much going on personally that it completely slipped my mind.
That’s saying something – because I’m never one to completely forget something like that. But 2019 had a lot in question, leaving the usual things to the wayside.
Fortunately it looks like 2021 will be starting off on a different note and I have things in order.

So it is no surprise that for the holidays, we don’t actually put out a huge feast. Rather we prefer to provide an array of snacks like these Cranberry BBQ Meatballs for us all to graze on for the day.
I’m sure that might come as a surprise. Most of my friends were shocked to hear that I create recipes for a living, but I don’t create an elaborate feast when it comes to the holidays.
But honestly, my time with my family is cherished. I don’t get a lot of it. I would much rather spend time visiting than cooking and cleaning in the kitchen.
So when it comes to our time together, we make recipes like these Cranberry BBQ Meatballs. They are not only CRAZY delicious but also incredibly quick and easy to make.
I have provided 3 different ways you can make these meatballs. You can go “old school” and make them on the stovetop in about 20 minutes. You could also just toss them in the slow cooker and let it do the work for you.
But with the latest Instant Pot craze – I thought I would also include my recipe for how I make these in the pressure cooker. If you happen to have been gifted one for the holiday, you can test it out with this super simple recipe.
After serving, place leftover meatballs in a shallow airtight container. Be sure to label with the date before refrigerating. This recipe should keep for up to 3 days if not left out for too long.
As with most things, it is important to get food into the refrigerator within 1 hour after serving to prevent bacteria growth.
Well, when the container is shallow, the contents chill faster than if you were to use a large, deep container. Ideally, you don’t want it to take too long for the leftovers to get to their chilled/stored temperature.
As I mentioned, if the food remains above about 35 degrees for more than 1 hour after cooking, the bacteria starts to grow.

Depending on the size of your cooking equipment you might be able to double this recipe. If you have a nice LARGE stockpot you could probably double the stovetop version.
I wasn’t able to fit more than this recipe in my pressure cooker or slow cooker. But if you happen to have more than 1 of each of those, you could do dueling batches. (maybe borrow one from a neighbor if needed)
Yes, absolutely, that will work just fine. Just be sure to cook them thoroughly BEFORE starting this recipe. This recipe is intended for FULLY COOKED meatballs prior to adding any seasonings and sauce.
You can literally use whatever type of meatballs you prefer. We have tried them with beef, pork, turkey, sausage, and chicken.
Yes, absolutely, that will work too. But the cooking time will be longer and you probably won’t be able to fit quite as many in the pot while cooking.
No, not at all. I just happen to have an Instant Pot, but pressure cookers have become so popular over the last couple years that just about every big & small appliance company makes one. This will work with them all.
We actually have several slow cookers that we have acquired over the years from doing this job. I have a smaller one that is great for half recipes.
But the one I use the most is this standard, no-frills slow cooker that is perfect for this particular recipe.
