Add all ingredients into a shaker with a strainer.
Cap the shaker before shaking the mixture vigorously.
Take the cap off. Leave the strainer on (or add on if your shaker doesn’t have an attachment you can use while shaking).
Pour the cocktail through the strainer into a tiki-style glass or your glassware of choice.
If you don’t have a shaker, just give the mixture a really good stir.

Instructions

This drink dilutes very well in ice. To help the dilution process along, do not be afraid to shake for up to 30 seconds before pouring the cocktail into the glass.

To really impress guests, try making all juices from scratch. The flavor is ten times better.

WHY DO MY SHOTS HAVE WHITE LINES BETWEEN THE LAYERS?

You may end up with really light white lines in between each layer due to the whipped cream settling in each layer.

There’s really no way around this unless you skip the whipped cream, but the whipped cream helps define each layer since they give a transparent color otherwise and the orange does taint both the white and yellow layers.

CAN I MAKE JELLO SHOTS IN ADVANCE?

Yes, you can make jello shots several days in advance. Simply prepare the jello according to the recipe instructions, then pour it into your shot glasses and refrigerate until ready to serve.

CAN I USE A DIFFERENT ALCOHOL IN MY JELLO SHOTS?

Yes, you can use any type of alcohol in your jello shots. However, we recommend using vodka, rum, or tequila as they mix well with the jello and provide a smooth flavor. Just don’t increase the measurements as it will keep the jello from setting.

HOW DO I GET THE JELLO SHOTS OUT OF THE SHOT GLASSES?

To remove the jello shots from the shot glasses, simply run a sharp knife around the edge of each glass and then invert it onto a plate. The jello shots should easily come out of the glasses.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO STORE JELLO SHOTS?

Jello shots can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days as long as you have them properly covered. However, we recommend consuming them within 24 hours for the best flavor.

How to Make Candy Corn Jello Shots

White Layer

Add the vodka for the white layer to a medium mixing bowl.
Pour the gelatin packets over the top and give it a light mix to ensure all of the powder gets wet.
Leave the gelatin to sit until bloomed.
Pour the boiling water over the top and mix until fully dissolved.
Add the simple syrup and give it a slight stir.
Add the whipped cream and whisk until fully combined. Do your best to not whisk hard as you don’t want it to become too foamy.
Using an injector or pourable measuring glass, fill each shot cup to about a third full.
Place them in the fridge on an even surface for about an hour or until set.

Orange Layer

When the white layer is almost set, add the orange jello to a medium mixing bowl and add the boiling water.
Stir until dissolved and add the vodka and cold water. Stir.
Add the whipped cream and lightly whisk until combined.
Let the jello sit and cool down a bit more as the white layer finishes setting. About 15 minutes.
Using the injector or pourable measuring cup again, fill the shot glasses another third of the way with the orange jello mixture.
Chill for another hour or until set.

Yellow Layer

Repeat steps 9-14 for the yellow layer.
Once the yellow layer has fully chilled, top it with a dollop of whipped cream and some candy corn, and enjoy!

CAN I MAKE MY SHOTS IN SMALLER SHOT GLASSES?

Yes, you can make your shots in smaller shot glasses if you prefer. Simply adjust the amount you add to each accordingly.

CAN I MAKE JELLO SHOTS WITH FRUIT PUNCH?

Yes, you can make jello shots with fruit punch by substituting the fruit punch for the cold water in the recipe.

Expert Tips

I use a basic Wilton 1M frosting tip and a disposable frosting bag to put a dollop of whipped cream on top of the shots. You can find it or a similar tip at most grocery stores such as Walmart.
Do not garnish the shots if you’re not serving them right away. If you garnish them and then stick them in the fridge, the whipped cream gets stiff and the candy gets sticky and chewy. It’s gross. They’re quick and easy to garnish, so fancy them up right before serving.
If using glass shot glasses, you might provide mini spoons to serve the shots with as you won’t be able to loosen the sides of the shot like you might in a typical plastic shot cup.
These can be made ahead and should last for at least two days, uncovered in the fridge. However, if they’re covered well, they will last about 5 days. Do not freeze.
You can use smaller shot glasses or cups, and you will get more shots out of this mixture. Each color just gets a third of the glass you use. It’s a pretty easy transition.
You can skip the almond extract in the white layer if preferred. It just gives it more of a candy corn flavor to match the theme. You can even add other flavorings in its place such as a fruity flavor to go with the other two layers.

½ cup vodka

Add the whipped cream and lightly whisk until combined.
Let the jello sit and cool down a bit more as the white layer finishes setting. About 15 minutes.
Using the injector or pourable measuring cup again, fill the shot glasses another third of the way with the orange jello mixture.
Chill for another hour or until set.
Repeat steps 9-14 for the yellow layer.
Once the yellow layer has fully chilled, top with a dollop of whipped cream and some candy corn, and enjoy!

Notes

I use a basic Wilton 1M frosting tip and a disposable frosting bag to put a dollop of whipped cream on top of the shots. You can find it or a similar tip at most grocery stores such as Walmart.
Do not garnish the shots if you’re not serving them right away. If you garnish them and then stick them in the fridge, the whipped cream gets stiff and the candy gets sticky and chewy. It’s gross. They’re quick and easy to garnish, so fancy them up right before serving.
If using glass shot glasses, you might provide mini spoons to serve the shots with as you won’t be able to loosen the sides of the shot like you might in a typical plastic shot cup.
These can be made ahead and should last for at least two days, uncovered in the fridge. However, if they’re covered well, they will last about 5 days. Do not freeze.
You can use smaller shot glasses or cups, and you will get more shots out of this mixture. Each color just gets a third of the glass you use. It’s a pretty easy transition.
You can skip the almond extract in the white layer if preferred. It just gives it more of a candy corn flavor to match the theme. You can even add other flavorings in its place such as a fruity flavor to go with the other two layers.
You may end up with really light white lines in between each layer due to the whipped cream settling in each layer. There’s really no way around this unless you skip the whipped cream, but the whipped cream helps define each layer since they give a transparent color otherwise and the orange does taint both the white and yellow layers.

By today’s definition, they are virtually the same – if you are talking about an electric pressure cooker. However, a traditional pressure cooker and an instant pot are two different cooking methods.

A traditional pressure cooker is a sealed metal container that cooks food quickly by steam under increased atmospheric pressure and heats the pot to boiling point.

An Instant Pot, on the other hand, is an electric-style pressure cooker that uses the same idea for cooking foods but can do so with very little liquid. They are incredibly efficient, safer than a traditional pressure cooker, and super easy to use too. Plus they come with a multitude of other functions making them great for quick meal prep.

What kind of apples should I use for apple cider?

Well- we didn’t pick the types of trees that were planted on our property. That was decided by the first owners and we are the lucky recipients. So I have no idea what types we have here. I’m just using what I have and it’s working just fine.

However – since I’m sure most of you will be buying your apples at the store – here are some suggestions.

When you are making apple cider, there are different kinds of apples that work best. Some apples have a higher water content, so they will add to the overall volume of the cider as well as the ratios with the other ingredients. Some are quite sweet, which can also change the overall outcome of the cider.

When picking an apple to make into apple cider, you want to focus on ones that are a bit more tart in flavor. This will result in a nice balance of tart and sweet for the perfect cider flavor. The best type of apple for this is usually the Red Delicious variety, though Golden Delicious will work as well.

How to Make Instant Pot Apple Cider

Combine the water, apples, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, whole cloves, and allspice in the Instant Pot Insert.
Close the lid, set to sealing, and cook on manual high pressure for 25 minutes.
Quick release. Remove the lid once the pin drops.
Use a potato masher to mash the apples a bit to help release more flavor.
Set the Instant Pot to the saute setting and simmer for 15 minutes.
Set a fine mesh strainer lined with a cheesecloth over a large bowl or pot.
Very carefully ladle the contents of the Instant Pot into the strainer, catching all of the solids.
Once all of the liquid has passed through into the pot below, give the cheesecloth a good squeeze to get out any remaining liquid. Be sure to wait until it is cool enough to touch so you don’t burn yourself.
Discard the solids in the cheesecloth.
Ladle the warm cider into mugs and serve with a fresh apple slice or wedge, cranberries, and a fresh cinnamon stick.

How much alcohol should I use?

The amount of alcohol you use will depend on how strong you want your shots to be. A good rule of thumb is to start with 1/2 cup of whatever alcohol you choose and adjust from there.

We are using a full cup of combined alcohol for this recipe – but be sure to not increase beyond that as the jello won’t set if the ratios are off.

Can I make jello shots without alcohol?

Yes! If you want to make non-alcoholic jello shots, simply substitute the alcohol for water or juice.

How to Make Sangria Jello Shots

Combine the boiling water and jello in a medium mixing bowl and stir until dissolved.
Add the wine and brandy. Stir again.
Fill each shot cup about ¾ of the way full, using the injector or measuring cup. Do not fill to the top.
Place in the fridge to chill for about 3 hours or until set.
If using, slice the apples and oranges into small pieces.
Top the shots with a dollop of whipped cream and some of the fruit. This is optional.

Can I freeze jello?

Freezing jello is not recommended. The changes in the molecular structure during the freezing process make the jello lose its texture and it won’t harden. Frozen jello becomes melted and runny when thawed.

Can I make these ahead of time?

Yes, Jell-O shots can be prepared up to 24 hours ahead of time. Prepare the shots as directed and store them in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Tips for making the BEST Jell-O Shots

I use an injector because it makes less of a mess and is quicker. However, using a pourable measuring cup works also.
Do not leave these uncovered in the fridge if you plan on storing them. They will dry out if you do. It will take them a couple of days to dry out, so it’s ok if you don’t remember, but if you plan on storing them for a few days, be sure to cover them.
These will keep in the fridge, covered, for about a week and a half. Do not freeze.
Do not garnish if you’re storing for a couple of days. You can garnish the shots up to 2 hours before serving. They do best if being garnished right before serving though.

Watermelon Margarita

This refreshing and delicious Watermelon Margarita is perfect for hot summer days. It has a sweet, tangy flavor and the perfect balance of salt and lime.

1 fine mesh strainer

Ingredients

4 cups watermelon cubed
2 tablespoons honey
5 limes juice from 4 + 1 for garnish
2 cups ice
1 cup white tequila any brand
salt for the rim of the glass

Instructions

Place the lime juice, honey, and tequila in a blender. Mix well.
Then blend the watermelon for 90 seconds
Run the drink through a fine metal strainer. Use a silicone spatula to push the pulp through. Discard seeds and large pulp.
Place the mix in the refrigerator for 1 hour to chill.
Slice the lime and then rub the slice along the rim of the glass.
Dip the glass in a small bowl with the salt.
Stir the drink mixture.
Add your ice and pour summer fiesta into your glass!

How to Make Piña Colada Pudding Shots

Place the pudding in a bowl and add the half and half, pina colada mix, and rum.

Fill up your pudding cups with the mixture. I used a frosting bag and tip at first, but then I moved to just using a spoon. It was much easier, quicker, and less messy with the spoon.
At this point, you can either chill the shots for an hour and then garnish them before serving. Or, you can garnish and serve them immediately. This is totally up to you. Either way, enjoy!

Notes for the Best Piña Colada Pudding Shots

I like to garnish these by topping them with whipped cream using a frosting bag, sticking a cherry right in the middle, placing a pineapple chunk on the side (gently), and ending it by sprinkling everything with some toasted coconut. Of course, you can garnish them how you like.
If you like a stronger coconut or pineapple taste, you can add some coconut or pineapple extract. This doesn’t have an overwhelming taste of either, but rather a light addition to the rum. However, everyone likes their flavors differently, so the extracts are nice for those little flavor adjustments.
I think the shots taste better chilled. However, if you use cold liquids to make the mixture in the first place, it will remain cold enough to serve immediately, if desired.
Do not garnish these before you chill them. If you make them ahead, just be sure to garnish them after they come out of the fridge, for best results.
If covered, these can store for about 4 days in the fridge.
I like serving these with small spoons, just in case some people don’t want to try and dump them into their mouths.
Do not go over the given liquid amounts. If you do, this can make the mixture too thin.

How much alcohol should I use?

The amount of alcohol you use will depend on how strong you want your shots to be. A good rule of thumb is to start with 1/2 cup of whatever alcohol you choose and adjust from there.

We are using a full cup of combined alcohol for this recipe – but be sure to not increase beyond that as the jello won’t set if the ratios are off.

Can I make these ahead of time?

Yes, you can make Jell-O shots up to 24 hours in advance. Simply prepare the shots as directed and store them in the fridge until you’re ready to serve.

Can jello shots be frozen?

Gelatin is the most important component of jello. Gelatin doesn’t freeze well and, if you put solid jello shots in the freezer, the gelatin may expand and destroy its form and texture. The chemical structure of gelatin is disrupted when it is frozen, causing it to crystallize and grow.

What to do if jello shots don’t set

If you use too much alcohol and not enough water, the jello shots won’t solidify correctly.

To fix – heat the liquid. The blooming of gelatin crystals will be enhanced by the heating process. You may also thicken the jello that isn’t setting by reheating it. If required, you can also add more bloomed gelatin while heating it up.

Is it possible to get intoxicated off jello shots?

You can become inebriated eventually, depending on how tolerant you are to alcohol and how many you have. The truth is that while each shot has a distinct flavor, it isn’t very strong. 1 drink is equal to approximately 4 jello shots.

How to Make 4th of July Jello Shots

Add the boiling water and jello to a medium mixing bowl and stir until dissolved.
Add the wine and brandy. Stir again.
Using an injector or pourable cup, fill each shot glass about ¾ of the way full.
Chill for about 3 hours or until set up.
If you want to garnish your jello shots, slice the strawberries into chunks. Top each shot with whipped cream, and one of each fruit. You can also skip the whipped cream and simply top the shot with just the fruit. Enjoy!

Notes

I like to line up my shot glasses on a flat, firm, moveable surface like a tray or cookie sheet. This makes it easier to move them back and forth from the fridge.
Be careful adding more alcohol than what the recipe calls for. This can cause the jello shots to remain liquid. If you like your jello shots a little softer, feel free to add a bit more brandy.
Do not add the garnishes to your shots until you’re ready to serve them. They can be garnished for a couple of hours before serving, but do not leave them overnight or the garnishes will get gross, effectively ruining the entire shot.
Keep in the fridge covered for up to a week. Do not freeze.
If you can’t find raspberry jello, you can always swap it out for red jello in general so the color gets close enough.

How do you take jello shots?

If you’re using the style of cups shown, run your finger around the outer edge of the shot and then shake the Jell-O into your mouth – out of the cup.

4th of July Jello Shots

4th of July Jello Shots are a classic summer party favorite. Made with red wine and blackberry brandy for the taste of sangria – they are perfect for any holiday celebration!

14 2-ounce shot glasses
1 injector or pourable measuring cup

Ingredients

1 box raspberry Jello 3 ounces
1 cup boiling water
⅔ cup red wine
⅓ cup blackberry brandy
blackberries optional
raspberries optional
strawberries optional
blueberries optional

Instructions

Add the boiling water and jello to a medium mixing bowl and stir until dissolved.
Add the wine and brandy. Stir again.
Using an injector or pourable cup, fill each shot glass about ¾ of the way full.
Chill for about 3 hours or until set up.
If you want to garnish your jello shots, slice the strawberries into chunks. Top each shot with whipped cream, and one of each fruit. You can also skip the whipped cream and simply top the shot with just the fruit. Enjoy!

Notes

I like to line up my shot glasses on a flat, firm, moveable surface like a tray or cookie sheet. This makes it easier to move them back and forth from the fridge.
Be careful adding more alcohol than what the recipe calls for. This can cause the jello shots to remain liquid. If you like your jello shots a little softer, feel free to add a bit more brandy.
Do not add the garnishes to your shots until you’re ready to serve them. They can be garnished for a couple of hours before serving, but do not leave them overnight or the garnishes will get gross, effectively ruining the entire shot.
Keep in the fridge covered for up to a week. Do not freeze.
If you can’t find raspberry jello, you can always swap it out for red jello in general so the color gets close enough.

Italian Cream Soda is a refreshing drink made with soda syrup, half and half, seltzer water, and ice. It can be garnished with whipped cream and fresh fruit if desired.

Is Italian soda from Italy?

Nope! It was created by an Italian syrup company – which is why they added Italian to the name. But essentially these are homemade cream sodas – made with Italian syrup.

What does Italian cream soda taste like?

Cream soda (also known as creme soda or creaming soda) is a sweet soft drink. Generally flavored with rich flavors like vanilla or caramel or fruit flavors. The addition of half and half gives the flavor and texture of an ice cream soda. A wide range of variations can be found worldwide.

Does Italian cream soda have caffeine?

No! Carbonated water and flavoring syrups are used to make Italian sodas. There is no caffeine in the bottle unless you add it on purpose.

What’s the difference between French soda and Italian Soda?

So – this is where it gets interesting. The traditional Italian version is just club soda, flavored syrup, and ice. The French version, (also called Italian Cream Soda) has the addition of half and half.

For the sake of this post – we are technically sharing the French version – but since both actually have the same name, it is up to you if you choose to add the half and half in your glass.

Either way, it is positively delicious. We love the creamy texture – but you can customize it as you like.

Why does my Italian cream soda curdle?

When citrus is combined with dairy, curdling occurs. There is currently no way to prevent this from happening unless you use dairy-friendly products such as Torani’s Dairy-Friendly Orange Syrup. Another technique to prevent the curdling is to prepare the syrup first, followed by seltzer water, and ice, and then pour the cream over the top.

How many pumps of syrup are in an Italian soda?

Fill the glass halfway with ice. For a 16-ounce cup, use about 6 pours of syrup. Feel free to experiment with various tastes!

How to Make Italian Cream Soda

Fill a tall glass about ¾ full with ice.
Add ½ – ¾ cup of club soda, more if you have a large glass.
Add 3-4 tablespoons of flavored syrup, more if you like it sweeter.
Pour in 2 tablespoons of half-and-half.
Top with whip cream and fresh fruit, if desired.
Stir and drink immediately.

Notes

I used Torani flavored syrups – which can be found in most grocers or online.
I tried using Skinny Mixes syrups for a low-carb alternative – but the syrups were not heavy enough to sink to the bottom of the glass. You might want to try the sugar-free versions Torani offers.

Can you use snow cone syrup for Italian soda?

Yes – syrups made for making snow cones are perfect for making cream soda. The thicker versions will sink better than the lighter, sugar-free versions!

Can you make Italian sodas with Sprite?

You bet. I understand that a lot of people don’t keep club soda on hand. So in that case, a lemon-lime soda will work. Keep in mind that it will alter the flavor of the drink and will make it sweeter since it has sweeteners while club soda does not.

Also, make sure to pair your flavors – you might not want a lemon-lime flavor paired with something like caramel.

Blue Curaçao is a liqueur that is made with the peel of bitter oranges. It is one of the ingredients needed to make a classic Blue Hawaiian cocktail.

For these jello shots, we omitted it because the jello won’t set if it contains too much alcohol. We chose to add pineapple juice instead because it pairs so nicely with the flavor of coconut.

If you want more of an orange flavor instead of the pineapple, to get more of the Blue Curaçao flavor – you can use pulp-free orange juice in place of the pineapple juice for this recipe.

Where can I find the cups for jello shots?

Sometimes you can find them at places like Walmart or the dollar store. But since we live very rural and have mostly mom & pop places around here – I order mine online from Amazon. I have a link towards the bottom of the post to the ones I like.

Notes for Making the Best Jello Shots

These jello shots won’t set up super solid like jello normally does. It will be a tad softer than that due to the alcohol. If you want it to be more solid, add 2 ounces of pineapple juice and take away 2 ounces of the rum.
These will last in the fridge for about two weeks as long as they are covered with their lids.
Do not freeze.
Do not add the toppings unless you’re going to be serving within the next hour or so. The whipped cream and such can get gross sitting out in the fridge with nothing covering them.
I use the injector because it leaves less of a mess and there’s less room for dripping and spilling. However, it’s not too shabby using a pourable measuring cup either.
It’s important that you make sure the jello is fully dissolved in the hot water before moving to the next step.
For a virgin or kid-safe jello shot, replace the coconut rum with coconut water.

Yep – you can use plain vodka, rum, or any other type of alcohol instead. Keep in mind that it will no longer be a spin-off of the classic drink recipe. But the recipe will still work.

Can I increase the alcohol?

Unfortunately not. You’ll need to keep the alcohol measurement the same – these won’t set and solidify if the ratios are off.

Gelatin is the most important component of jello. Gelatin doesn’t freeze well and, if you put solid jello shots in the freezer, the gelatin may expand and destroy their form and texture. The chemical structure of gelatin is disrupted when it is frozen, causing it to crystallize and grow.

How to Make Tequila Sunrise Jello Shots

Combine the red jello and 1 cup boiling water, in a medium mixing bowl, and mix until the jello has dissolved.
Add the cold water and stir.
Using the injector, fill each shot cup about ¼ of the way full.
Place in the fridge for an hour or until set.
Add the orange juice to a medium mixing bowl and sprinkle the unflavored gelatin over the top of it. You may need to gently help the gelatin powder all get wet to start the process.
Leave the mixture set until the gelatin has dissolved and looks no longer clumpy.
Add in the half cup boiling water and stir until the gelatin has dissolved.
Add the tequila and stir.
Using the injector, fill the shot cups until they’re about ¾ of the way full.
Place in the fridge for 1.5 hours or until set.
Top with whipped cream and a cherry, if desired, and enjoy!

There are a few reasons why jello shots are popular. For one, they’re usually pretty cheap to make. They’re also pretty easy to make and can be made in all kinds of flavors. And lastly, they taste good and people tend to like the way they feel after drinking them.

What is the best tequila for Tequila Sunrise Jello Shots?

The best tequila for Tequila Sunrise Jello Shots is a reposado tequila. Reposado tequilas are aged for at least two months, and up to one year, in oak barrels.

This aging process gives reposado tequilas their smooth, mellow flavor, which pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the orange juice and grenadine in Tequila Sunrise Jello Shots.

Do Tequila Sunrise Jello Shots need to be refrigerated?

Yes, Tequila Sunrise Jello Shots need to be refrigerated. Jello shots are made with gelatin, which needs to be kept cold in order to set properly.

Notes

Do not add hot water to the unflavored gelatin powder before it’s dissolved in cold water. You’ll make it clumpy and stringy. It’s salvageable, but definitely not as easy to use or as nice looking.
If you want to make the red layer alcoholic, swap out half a cup of the cold water for more tequila.
Do not go beyond half a cup of alcohol per jello layer or you chance the layer not setting up.
I like using Sunny D for the orange juice as it’s just a better/sweeter flavor. It really rounds out the flavor of the shot well. However, because Sunny D will make it sweeter, stick with your usual orange juice if you don’t want that.
I would skip using an orange juice that has pulp. It’s not very pleasant in a shot, texture-wise or aesthetically. However, it’s totally up to you!
I like using the injector because it’s quicker and easier. However, I’ve been able to use a pourable measuring cup and make it out with little mess as well.
Only add garnishes right before serving or within a couple of hours of serving. Garnishes have a tendency to get gross sitting in the fridge for long periods.
Store without garnishes, with lids on, for up to 2 weeks. Do not freeze.

Tequila Sunrise Jello Shots

Equipment

15 2-Ounce Shot Cups with Lids
Injector or Pourable Cup

Ingredients

1 box red Jell-O
2 packets unflavored gelatin
¾ cup orange juice
½ cup tequila
1 cup + ½ cup boiling water
1 cup cold water
whipped cream optional
maraschino cherries optional

Instructions

Combine the red jello and 1 cup boiling water, in a medium mixing bowl, and mix until the jello has dissolved.
Add the cold water and stir.
Using the injector, fill each shot cup about ¼ of the way full.
Place in the fridge for an hour or until set.
Add the orange juice to a medium mixing bowl and sprinkle the unflavored gelatin over the top of it. You may need to gently help the gelatin powder all get wet to start the process.
Leave the mixture set until the gelatin has dissolved and looks no longer clumpy.
Add in the half cup boiling water and stir until the gelatin has dissolved.
Add the tequila and stir.
Using the injector, fill the shot cups until they’re about ¾ of the way full.
Place in the fridge for 1.5 hours or until set.
Top with whipped cream and a cherry, if desired, and enjoy!

Notes

Do not add hot water to the unflavored gelatin powder before it’s dissolved in cold water. You’ll make it clumpy and stringy. It’s salvageable, but definitely not as easy to use or as nice looking.
If you want to make the red layer alcoholic, swap out half a cup of the cold water for more tequila.
Do not go beyond half a cup of alcohol per jello layer or you chance the layer not setting up.
I like using Sunny D for the orange juice as it’s just a better/sweeter flavor. It really rounds out the flavor of the shot well. However, because Sunny D will make it sweeter, stick with your usual orange juice if you don’t want that.
I would skip using an orange juice that has pulp. It’s not very pleasant in a shot, texture-wise or aesthetically. However, it’s totally up to you!
I like using the injector because it’s quicker and easier. However, I’ve been able to use a pourable measuring cup and make it out with little mess as well.
Only add garnishes right before serving or within a couple of hours of serving. Garnishes have a tendency to get gross sitting in the fridge for long periods.
Store without garnishes, with lids on, for up to 2 weeks. Do not freeze.

Since Easter is typically centered around the kiddos – I thought we needed a little something made just for the adults. These Easter Jell-O Shots were the perfect thing.

I super love the colorful layers. They make me happy. We made these with yellow, purple, and pink – but they would be cute with green or white or any other color you like.

Maybe make different batches – certain colors for adults only and then may regular Jell-O in the cups in a different color for the kids.

Where can I find the cups for jello shots?

Can these be made with regular vodka?

Yep – you can use plain vodka instead of the flavored kind if you have that instead. We just thought that the added whipped cream flavor would be delicious along with the grape, lemon, and pink starburst flavors.

Can these be made with rum?

Looking for rum jello shots instead? You can swap out the vodka for rum – be sure to use white rum for these. Just keep the alcohol measurement the same – these won’t set and solidify if the ratios are off.

What to do if jello shots don’t set

If you use too much alcohol and not enough water, the jello shots won’t solidify correctly.

How to Make Easter Jell-O Shots

Line the cups up on a baking sheet that will fit all of them. No lids.
Place the yellow jello mix in a medium mixing bowl and add ½ cup boiling water. Mix until no graininess remains.
Add ¾ cup vodka and ½ cup cold water to the bowl. Mix well.
Using the injector, fill up each shot cup a third of the way.
Place in the fridge for an hour or until solidified.
Repeat steps 2-4 but use the grape jello instead.
Once the purple jello has solidified, repeat steps 2-4 for the pink jello.
Once the last layer has solidified, top with some whipped cream, if desired, and enjoy!

How do you take jello shots?

If you’re using the style of cups shown, run your finger around the outer edge of the shot and then shake the Jell-O into your mouth – out of the cup.

Why are jello shots popular?

NOTES for the best Jell-O Shots

Do not add whipped cream to the top of your shots if you’re not serving them right away. You’ll want to keep lids on your shots and top them right before serving.
For some strange reason, I had to go through three grape jello boxes as it seemed to react differently than the other flavors. If you have an issue with it not setting up, add less liquid, starting with the alcohol. You can also place it in the freezer before placing the last layer on.
You can use any vodka or alcohol you prefer, just don’t go over ¾ cup of alcohol in each layer as it won’t solidify if you do.

Don’t try and add a new layer until the layer below it is solid. If it’s runny at all, it will make the colors mix.
You can keep these in the fridge for up to 5 days, with lids.
You can use other means to get the liquid in the cups. However, I have not found anything that works as quickly or cleanly as the injector. Strange? Maybe, but it works.
