Bourbon Apple Cider is an easy spiked hot cider recipe made in the slow cooker. Perfect for holiday parties, cozy fall evenings & more.
When it comes to the holidays, I’m all about the easy. No one wants to play bartender while everyone else is having fun, right?
So I love serving drinks that pretty much make themselves, like this Bourbon Apple Cider. Just toss it all in the slow cooker and it is ready in a few hours. So simple.
Honestly, I don’t know anyone who would rather be stuck in one spot during a holiday party, over being able to mingle and relax with guests.
This hot cider recipe makes it so easy to just toss and go. No need to mind it or mess with it.
You can prep your other holiday recipes, visit with friends and family and let people serve their own drinks as needed. So much less stress.

Here are some commonly asked questions
Can this recipe be doubled?
That will depend on the size of your slow cooker. If you have a large cooker, you should be able to fit double the ingredients in there.
Or you can have 2 cookers going side-by-side if you are expecting a larger crowd.
What is the best way to store leftover hot apple cider?
Just keep it refrigerated for up to 4 days. I like to transfer any remaining cider to a large pitcher once it has cooled to room temperature and then pop it in the fridge.

Should I use light or dark brown sugar?
Since I make my own brown sugar, I use light brown sugar for almost all of my recipes. But light or dark brown sugar will work in this recipe.

Can I use a sugar substitute?
I have not personally tried it, so I can’t say how that would turn out. But if you would like to try it, I suggest a product that offers a 1:1 swap. Please let me know how it turns out.
