Get dinner on the table fast with these super juicy and flavorful Oven-Baked Pork Chops that are ready in 30 minutes, start to finish.
When it comes to dinner, it is so hard to get everyone to the table at the same time. Scheduling anything for 5 people who all work and have other commitments pulling them in every direction is a tough task. So we like to keep dinner simple around here.
One thing we have been making since long before the babies even came along is these pork chops baked in the oven. They are one of the first things I learned to make when out on my own – which means they are perfect for beginners and experienced cooks alike.
baked pork chops
You can’t go wrong with these. They are practically effortless and yet taste like a million bucks. When I made them for my best friend who had flown in to see my new digs, she couldn’t believe I was able to make such a scrumptious dinner.
I mean, we were both about 19 years old, hadn’t been out on our own for very long at the time – so being all “domesticated” was sort of a novelty for us. But I was so pleased that I had remembered a thing or two from all those visits with my grandmother and I could put together a decent meal that we still enjoy to this day.
Here are some commonly asked questions
Can this recipe be doubled?
You bet – just make sure you use a large baking pan so the pork chops have plenty of space between them for airflow. The cooking time shouldn’t change if they are spaced correctly.
Are pork chops baked covered or uncovered?
For this recipe, we are baking them uncovered. I like to do this because they get a nice “crust” on the outside which locks in the juices – making them extra flavorful when you cut them open.

Useful Tips for Baking Pork Chops
- Don’t cut the fat layer off the pork chops before cooking. The fat will mostly cook off and it creates a layer that protects the chop from drying out as it cooks.
- Cook the chops until they reach 140 degrees. Then remove and let rest for 5 minutes. During this time the temperature should actually increase another 5 degrees (this is called carryover cooking).
- Take care to not over-cook. You don’t want to dry out the chops.
- Change up the seasonings by adding ranch, seasoned salt, lemon pepper or a pre-made rub of your choice.
- Try brushing with bbq sauce in the last 5 minutes of cooking for delicious bbq chops.
How to store leftover pork chops
Make sure to place the leftover chops in an airtight container and keep them refrigerated until ready to serve again. You want to make sure they get into the fridge within the hour that they are cooked as bacteria will start to grow as they sit at room temperature.
What to serve with pork chops?
When it comes to pork chops you have so many choices for sides and pairings. They are so versatile that way. But here are some of our personal favorites that we serve with these pork chops again and again.
- Garlic Parmesan Pull-Apart Biscuits
- Instant Pot Baked Beans
- Crusty Artisan Bread
- Pesto Pasta Salad
- One-Hour Dinner Rolls
- Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts
- Loaded Green Bean Casserole
- Instant Pot Baked Potatos
- Bacon and Garlic Green Beans

Did you know?
Interestingly – pork chops are actually cut from the loin of the pig running from the shoulder to the butt. But a pork butt (used for pulled pork) is cut from the shoulder.
Can this be made with bone-in pork chops?
Yes, you can make this same recipe using bone-in chops – you will just need to cook for them a little bit longer. This time will depend on the thickness of the chops.
Can these be marinated first?
Great idea – yes you can make these with a marinade and I have just the perfect one for you to try. This pork marinade is INCREDIBLE and I highly recommend you using it for all your pork recipes!
