The weather has been so nice lately. We have been outside soaking it all up as often as possible. It just seemed like it took forever for summer to finally kick in here. My plants got a decent soaking of rain through most of May, which was really nice.
But the temps have been so cool- like 60-70 degrees most of the month. So I think they are confused. But now the heat has set in & things are going crazy.

It feels great to shed some layers & not be constricted by slippers or even my favorite sweater. It’s time to kick back & fire up that grill again & again!
On the menu today- these grilled chicken wings I teased a little bit ago. Because you haven’t lived until you enjoy some grilled chicken on a warm summer day.

When the wings were done, we just served them up on some brown paper & brought out all our other fixings to dine al fresco. Why you ask? Because the summers here in CDA are so lovely.
If we can be outside enjoying the weather & have a little food too, then by all means, we will do that as often as we can. It’s sort of the payment for those long, cold winters, to have these super awesome summers. That’s exactly why we moved here.
They came out just perfect- seasoned & grilled. They were ready pretty quick & I enjoyed dipping & munching with my favorite company, my family.
Here are some commonly asked questions
Are grilled chicken wings low carb?
I suppose that would depend on the seasonings used. But if you are just eating the grilled chicken itself, with these seasonings here, then yes – this would be low-carb. We aren’t adding anything in this recipe list that would add carbs to your diet. Just watch your BBQ sauce if you choose to add it at the end.
How many calories grilled chicken wings?
You are in luck here with these. If you won’t add additional sauces, grilling is one of the best ways to make chicken wings & keep them low on the calorie intake. With this recipe, they are only 35 to 40 calories and 1 gram of fat each.
What is the best way to store grilled chicken wings?
We almost never have leftovers of this particular chicken recipe. But when we do, I find that the easiest way is to place in a shallow airtight container, label with the date & refrigerate. Make sure to get the leftovers refrigerated within an hour of cooking to prevent bacteria growth.
Why use a shallow container to store the leftovers?
Well, when the container is shallow, the contents chill faster than if you were to use a large, deep container. Ideally, you don’t want it to take too long for the leftovers to get to their chilled/stored temperature. As I mentioned, if the food remains above about 35 degrees for more than 1 hour after cooking, the bacteria starts to grow.

So, if the deep container of food takes several hours to finally get to that 35 degrees, the bacteria has been growing in your leftovers for those several hours. Not exactly what you want to happen.
How many people will this serve?
Honestly, this really depends on how large or small your portions are & how large the appetites are. I’m feeding 5 adult appetites, so this recipe feeds us 5 with a few leftover for seconds. But if you are feeding 2 adults & 2 smaller kids, then you will probably get 2 nights out of this meal. So nice to not have to cook dinner the next night.
Can this recipe be doubled?
I usually like to double this recipe when having friends over. I also like to double this recipe so we have lots of leftovers in anticipation for a busy week ahead. It is so nice to not have to cook for a night or two.

How to reheat grilled chicken wings?
This can be done a number of ways. Sometimes we just zap them in the microwave for 1-2 minutes or until hot. Other times we like to lay them out on a baking pan & cook them in the oven for about 15 minutes (this takes so long because you are reheating from such a cold temperature). But sometimes it is just easiest to place a handful of the wings in the air fryer & cook for about 5-6 minutes or until hot & ready to enjoy.
To make this recipe you will need…
