Ingredients

  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 2 tbsp minced garlic
  • ½ cup brown sugar sugar packed
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • ¼ tsp ground ginger
  • ¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 4 cups white rice for serving
  • 2 tsp sesame seeds for garnish - if desired

Instructions

  • Brown the ground beef and garlic in a large skillet over medium heat, cooking until no pink remains. Be sure to change out your spatula midway through to avoid cross-contamination.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, red pepper flakes, and pepper.
  • Once the ground beef is cooked, pour the sauce mixture into the pan, stir and simmer for 1-2 minutes before serving over a bed of white rice.
  • If you want a thicker sauce, combine cornstarch & water in a small bowl and then stir into beef. Simmer for 1 more minute to thicken. Sauce will also thicken as it cools.
