  • ½ cup butter
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts optional
  • tsp salt


  • Grease a shallow baking pan and set aside.
  • Combine the butter and cocoa powder in a medium microwave-safe bowl and microwave until butter is melted. Stir to combine.
  • Allow the melted butter mixture to cool for several minutes and then whisk in the eggs and vanilla extract.
  • Stir in the brown sugar, flour, nuts (if using), and salt.
  • Pour into the prepared pan and bake at 320 degrees for 33 to 37 minutes, or until just slightly moist in the middle.
  • Allow to cool completely before removing from the pan. Brownies will be slightly gooey in the center before they cool but will set as they come to room temperature.
