Ingredients

  • 4 oz smoked gouda grated
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 clove garlic peeled and minced - or 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 ½ cup milk
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • ¼ tsp black pepper or more to taste
  • 2 pieces cooked bacon crumbled for topping if desired

Instructions

  • Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  • Add the flour and whisk until you have a paste, then add the milk and continue to slowly whisk until the sauce is smooth.
  • Slowly stir in the cheese, Worcestershire sauce, mustard and black pepper. Keep stirring until all of your ingredients have melted together and formed a creamy sauce.
  • Serve warm with soft pretzels! If you opted for the crumbled bacon, now is the time to add it on top!
