Preheat the oven to 350°F and line 1-2 baking sheets with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
In a large mixing bowl, combine cake mix, oil eggs, and flour. If you are making this with a chocolate cake mix and needing to turn it into a red velvet mix, you can also add the food coloring at this time. Mix until just combined.
Use a medium cookie scoop to portion the dough out onto the prepared baking sheets.
Bake for 10-12 min, they will look puffed and will set as they cool.
Cool on the baking sheet for several minutes before transferring to a wire rack to come to room temperature.
Make sure the cookies are completely cooled before adding the frosting.
