Mini French Apple Pies

Bring on the flavors of fall with these Mini French Apple Pies. Simple to make & perfect for all your seasonal gatherings. Such a delicious holiday dessert.

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1/3 cup + 1 tbsp shortening
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp water

Pie Filling

  • 3 cans apple pie filling - diced smaller

Topping

  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup stick butter

Instructions

Crust

  • Spray muffin tins with cooking spray. Set aside
  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  • Add all of the ingredients to a medium bowl.
  • Using 2 knives & crossing over or use a pastry blender to mix & combine until crumbly.
  • Gather into a ball, shape onto a well-floured surface.
  • Roll out with floured rolling pin.
  • Cut into rounds using a cookie cutter & push each into the prepared muffin tin cups.

Pie Filling

  • Empty cans into a large bowl & pull a knife through the filling to cut the apples into smaller pieces.
  • Fill each mini pie crust to the top.

Topping

  • Add all ingredients to bowl & mix with a fork- mixing until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle a spoonful of topping over each pie.

Bake

  • Bake 30-45 minutes checking every 5 minutes after you reach 30 minutes.
  • They are done when they are golden brown & bubbling.

Notes

To make the filling from scratch, you will need...
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1/8 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon
dash salt
4 cups peeled apples - diced
To make -
Add all ingredients in a large bowl & toss to coat apples.
Fill each mini pie crust to the top (as they cook they will shrink).
