Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 cup butter 2 sticks -softened
  • 1-1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp table salt

Coating

  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon

Optional Glaze

  • 1 cup Confectioners sugar
  • 1-2 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Line several baking sheets with parchment & set aside
  3. Whisk together coating ingredients in a small bowl
  4. In a medium-sized bowl, combine flour, cream of tartar, baking soda & salt. Set aside.
  5. In a large bowl, cream butter & sugar together.
  6. Add eggs & vanilla & mix well.
  7. Combine wet & dry ingredients & beat until a creamy dough forms.
  8. Shape dough into balls & roll in cinnamon/sugar mixture
  9. Place on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart
  10. Bake 8-10 minutes. Cool on wire rack at least 20 minutes before transferring to an airtight container.

  11. If adding the glaze, wait until cookies are completely cooled before doing so.

  12. Once cooled, whisk together glaze ingredients & dip cookies into the mixture.

  13. Place on parchment paper to dry before serving.
