Ingredients

  • 1 pound strawberries
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • ½ cup sweetened condensed milk add more if more sweetness as desired
  • 1 cup Mexican crema see *tips on how to replace it with heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Gently rinse the strawberries under cool running water. Pat them dry with paper towels to prevent them from getting watery.
  • Remove the strawberry leaves. Chop the strawberries into slices.
  • Mix the sour cream, sweet condensed milk, Mexican crema, and vanilla extract in a bowl.
  • Create a few layers of cream + strawberries in small clear cups. Refrigerate the assembled dessert for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld and the cream to chill.

Tips
You can replace the Mexican crema with heavy cream and lime juice: Mix 1 tbsp of lime or lemon juice with 1 cup of heavy cream and let it sit in the fridge for 30 minutes or up to 2 hours in the fridge. Then, it is ready to use!
  • Choose ripe, bright red strawberries with fresh green caps for the best flavor. Avoid soft or bruised berries.
  • Adjust the sweetness to your taste by adding more or less condensed milk. Start with less and add gradually until the desired sweetness is reached.
  • Use light sour cream or natural yogurt for a lighter option.
  • Store leftover Fresas con Crema in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. The cream mixture might separate slightly, but it will still be safe to consume.
