Equipment

  • 12 2-ounce shot glasses
  • frosting bag and ateco #824 frosting tip (optional for garnishing)
  • pourable measuring cup

Ingredients

  • 3 ounces cherry jello 1 box
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • ¾ cup fireball whiskey

cool whip -optional garnish

    red hots - optional garnish

      red sanding sugar - optional garnish

        Instructions

        • Place the jello in a medium mixing bowl and pour the boiling water over the top. Stir until jello is dissolved.
        • Add the fireball whiskey. Lightly stir to combine.
        • Using a pourable measuring cup, or similar dish, pour the jello mixture into each shot glass, leaving just a small space at the top.
        • Chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours or until set.
        • If desired, you can place the whipped cream in a frosting bag with a frosting tip and decorate the top of each shot with Cool Whip, and sprinkle with some red sanding sugar or red hots. Serve and enjoy!

        Notes

        Tips:
        Do not garnish the jello shots if you’re not getting ready to serve them. Garnish just before serving. The red hots and sanding sugar like to melt into the cool whip if left to sit for too long.
        If you would like to make these in advance, you can store them in the fridge, covered and ungarnished, for up to 3 days. I wouldn’t store them too long as they can start to dry out.
        Do not overfill your shots as it makes it more difficult to transport them to the fridge.
        Serving with mini spoons will help people eat the shots easier, if you’re using the glass shot glasses and not the plastic ones.
