Equipment

  • electric smoker

Ingredients

  • 28 ounces little smokies
  • 18 ounces bbq sauce
  • cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp bourbon or bourbon flavoring
  • 1 tbsp minced onions
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp granulated garlic
  • 1 tsp Himalayan sea salt
  • 1 tsp pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat the smoker to 225 degrees.
  • Place the smokies in the bottom of a foil pan or metal pan suitable for smoking.
  • Combine the bbq sauce, brown sugar, mustard, bourbon, minced onions, onion powder, granulated garlic, sea salt, and pepper in a medium-sized bowl. Whisk well to combine.
  • Pour the bbq sauce mixture over the smokies and stir to coat.
  • Place the prepared smokies on the smoker (or in the oven) and cook for at least 1-2 hours.
  • Increase the heat to 350 and cook for 30-60 minutes - or until heated through.
  • Make sure to stir occasionally but allow it to be undisturbed for the last 10 minutes for the sauce to glaze.

Notes

To make this in the oven - bake in an oven that has been preheated to 350 degrees. Cook for 30 minutes.
To make these in the slow cooker - mix all of the ingredients together. Heat on low for 2-3 hours.
If the smokies look too dry - you can add a splash of water to the tray and cover it with foil after the smoking process when you increase the heat.
