No need to guess - it looks like you skipped over the full recipe at the bottom of the post. It is ddirectly above the comments section where you posted this. You can easily find it by clicking the jump to recipe button at the top of the post.

I have two fig trees at my house and this you're there super big. I'm making this as we speak. It's in the crock-Pot right now. I sort of just guessed at the ingredients, as far as measurement go. But I'm sure it'll be okay. If all goes well, it'll be done just in time for breakfast.

Thick is what you want in fig butter. Last year I made fig jam which was runny. I am excited about this recipe.

yes you can use artifical sweetner. I make mine that way. for 1 cup sugar I use 1 cup splenda. when cooked I jar them and them bath boil 10 minutes for my elevation. they came out very good and they kept. I also tried making some in the micro wave and they were successful, although I made small batches. mix figs and sugar. micro wave 5 minutes ,stir, micro wave 5 minutes. until you get the thickness you want. my bowl took about 20 minutes.

I'm sorry you are disappointed. This is a really old recipe & definitely needs to be rewritten to add some things. I will update to add that 2 jars are actually the expected amount. Also, all slow cookers will cook a bit differently, som much hotter than others. So if you need to reduce the time because it is cooking too quickly, or add some water to thin it out, that is okay to reach the desired result.

Hi Suzanne, I have never tried canning it, so I am sorry that can't say for certain what the outcome would be. If you decide to give it a try, I would love to know how that turns out.
