For the purpose of the recipe, it would be divided, using some before baking and the rest afterward. We like a little more and, really, 3T is a suggestion. It isn't going to break the recipe if you use more. I just don't recommend omitting it altogether as the butter and salt really do make the flavor pop once they are finished. I like to go a little lighter with the butter before baking and then go heavier once they come out of the oven.

It says to brush with butter and sprinkle with salt before putting them in the oven and then you say to brush with butter again after taking them out of the oven? Am I meant to save some of the 3T of melted butter and use it for both times? Thanks!

These are so easy to make! They were light and fluffy and had a delicious flavor! Since there is no hand kneading, having a stand mixer is absolutely necessary as written in the recipe.
I highly recommend trying this, even for first a first time bread maker!

I made these last week and they were amazing. I am taking dinner to friends tonight and I have to make them again. They were perfect. I split the dough into 12 balls. They were a little bigger but they so good. This is a must save recipe. I will be making them again and again.

No need to apologise. That is what I'm here for - to walk you through it. So when the dough has properly risen, it will be puffed up, filling the bowl. You will literally take your fist and push it down in the center of the risen dough - which will deflate it. From there you remove it from the bowl and resume the rest of the instructions. Hope you love these as much as we do. Happy baking!
