They won’t really flatten on their own too much. So if they hold the ball shape, they not only don’t look like cookies that can be frosted and decorated, but the center stays too thick and won’t bake fully in the same amount of time. If you add time, it potentially burn the outside of the cookie.

Do you have to flatten them? What happens if you just roll and place on pan?

Terrible recipe. You taste the rum in the cake, of which has a bad aftertaste. Kinda bitter. Deleting this 1!
