I made this for Christmas morning brunch. It was delicious! I had hoped for leftovers but no, everyone wanted seconds! I did not make the frosting, it was plenty moist and sweet without. I used challah bread, it was perfection. Not soggy, and stood up to the liquid, but not dry either. Thank you for this keeper!

In this recipe, we used a standard loaf of sliced white bread. I think the brand was Sara Lee. But you can use whatever you have on hand. Leftover french bread works or you can use brioche bread too.
