The batter will be thicker than if you made the cake mix as directed on the box. But it shouldn’t be too thick. Please pay attention to the brand of cake mix – they aren’t all 15.25 ounces anymore. Some have changed it to as low as 13.25 ounces, which will change this recipe drastically.

Should the better be that thick?? I feel like you should have made the cake as directed then add the extra egg and sour cream.
