This recipe was created back when air fryers were just hitting the market – they didn’t have all the added settings and were much smaller in capacity. It was time and temperature – so just use the standard air fry setting. Also, air fryers are a lot like slow cookers – every single one will run a little hotter or colder than a similar one. Always adjust for your particular machine. There are so many on the market with different sizes and efficiency now that most recipes will need to be adjusted slightly (usually with cooking time) to account for the differences.

We too have the Ninja XL and are just learning how to best use it. You say to preheat air fryer—under which feature—roast or air fry or? I made this using air fry as that is implied by “preheat air fryer” but while the flavor was 5 stars, my chops were also dry and tough at 145 degrees. I appreciate your thoughtful recipes for families and the flavor totally deserves 5 stars. Can you please advise on which setting you use, please?

Because you want it to blend in with the panko, use the powder. But you can always add the shredded as well.

You might need to increase the time depending on how crowded it makes the air fryer. Increase by a couple of minutes and check them – continue as needed until they reach the specified internal temp.
