You know- I never really liked chartreuse. That is until Birchbox sent me my September box & low & behold, there was a little bottle of chartreuse nail polish in there. At first I was skeptical. But you know- I left it on my bathroom counter for a few days & then decided I would give it a try. They also have me some polish remover wipes in there so I figured I would be set if I didn’t like it. You know what- I LOVE IT. I thought it would wash out my pale skin or make me look a bit jaundice nope. It actually adds just what my toes need to make them look great. Plus, since I am still wearing sandals, it’s a nice bright pop to make me smile. We don’t get “regular” fall like colors here. It’s always brown & I have to drive pretty far to find fall colors in nature. So I have to find new ways to add fall colors to my life- the best way- in my wardrobe.
So this got me thinking- how many things besides polish would I choose in this color? How can I incorporate it into my wardrobe?
I adore these tear drop earrings from Yummi Glass– (an old friend from HS actually is the personal assistant to the owner/designer of Yummi Glass). I love that this color is actually pulled from the color of the leaves as they are turning from green to yellow. I always associated chartreuse with spring or summer- but really, it’s a very fall like color. I love that!! Check out all the ways – both BOLD & subtle- that I found to add more of this color to my everyday life.
This is probably how you will find me the majority of the time once cooler weather decides to show up here. I love a slight boot cut denim to balance out my hips, a nice draped chunky knit cardigan for texture, some rockin’ booties to elongate my legs & then a nice bright pop of chartreuse in a timeless style to keep it current. I encourage you to step out of your comfort zone with your fall fashion this season. Pick a color that you wouldn’t normally wear & give it a try. You might just be pleasantly surprised like I was.
